Technical Visit 3 (Putrajaya)

Option B : Wetland Park (Taman Wetland Putrajaya)

Putrajaya is a city planned and built to meet the challenges of the new millennium. It is "A City in a Garden" that turns to nature for inspiration, resulting in a landscape dominated by the picturesque Putrajaya Lake. A high standard of lake water quality is one of the most important factors for the success of this scenic centrepiece, and the solution was found in simulating yet another gift of nature - with the construction of Putrajaya Wetland.

A nature interpretation centre has been established in Putrajaya Wetland Park to increase the public awareness on wetland functions and its benefits with some hands-on activities on wetlands for the public. This centre was opened to the public since September 1999.

In 1999, Wetlands International was engaged by the Putrajaya authority, Putrajaya Corporation to develop educational materials, exhibits and interpretative materials for the nature interpretation centre. These include guide books, brochures, fact sheets, posters and video documentary on Putrajaya Wetlands. The training of park wardens and staff on how to manage and run the NIC (Nature Interpretation Centre) was carried out by Wetlands International. The wetland park has nature trails along the landscaped wetlands, flamingo ponds and wetland cells.

Option C : Agricultural Heritage Park (Taman Warisan Pertanian)
